SnapMED is a platform that uses secure video conferencing software to quickly connect patients with a Canadian trained physician. Our doctors can consult with the patient securely over a mobile phone, tablet, or a desktop/laptop computer. Patients can now get the medical attention they need from the comfort and safety of their own homes. Prescriptions can be sent to a pharmacy of the patient’s choice, and all consultation notes are available for viewing on the patient’s SnapMED account.
SnapMED is very simple to use. First, register for a free account. Once you have registered, you will fill out your personal and medical profile.
To see a doctor, simply click the “See Doctor” button at the top of your SnapMED dashboard. Enter your symptoms and a brief reason for your virtual visit. Once you submit the appointment request, you will be placed in the virtual queue to see the next available physician. The SnapMED physician who accepts your appointment request will review your symptoms and medical profile information. Then you will be connected via video conferencing for your virtual medical consultation.
Physicians at SnapMED can manage non-emergency medical issues. If you are experiencing a medical emergency, please call 911 or proceed to the nearest emergency department. Some of the medical conditions that can be treated through SnapMED are:

SnapMED physicians cannot replace the role of a primary care physician.
Online healthcare is just another version of telemedicine, which has been around for years in Canada. Telemedicine is commonly used to treat patients with limited access to healthcare facilities (e.g. rural areas). In many circumstances, experienced physicians can make diagnoses without an in-person examination. Patients have repeatedly stated their satisfaction with obtaining online healthcare.
You have two main options for filling prescriptions. If you have provided a preferred pharmacy fax number under your profile, we can send your prescriptions directly to the pharmacy. If you have not updated the fax number prior to your appointment, you can make the changes on your profile after your appointment and still send directly a prescription one time to your pharmacy. Please go to your profile and update your pharmacy fax number. Once completed, return to your appointment history , expand on the details of your appointment and Prescription Fax button will be enabled. Note that you will be limited to fax your prescription one time.
Alternatively, a copy of the prescription will be available on your SnapMED dashboard, which you can download, print, and take to the pharmacy yourself.
We recommend that you ask your pharmacy about delivery options, as many offer this convenient service.
At this time, we are not authorized to prescribe any narcotic or controlled substance over this platform. If you require any such prescription, please contact your primary care physician.
Because SnapMED provides on demand health care services, we currently do not support follow up care. It is something that we will incorporate in the future. The physician will note in the patient’s chart if a follow up referral is necessary. The patient can then print the consultation notes from their dashboard and bring the recommendation to their primary care physician.
For patients in Ontario, virtual medical consultation is covered through OHIP; however, patients with a valid health card still require a SnapMED subscription to the platform. The Standard Ontario subscription plans are:

$15 + HST for 24 hours platform subscription fee

For patients who do not have OHIP coverage, we offer our Premium Private Plans which include the subscription to the platform. The virtual medical consultation plans are: Premium Private Plans of Per Visit, Fixed, Personal and Family plan.

Per Visit:
Patients can see a doctor on a per-visit basis. This plan includes one (1) virtual visit, after visit summary, access to your secure medical information, prescription refill and it is available worldwide. The cost for one consultation is $59 – Weekday (Mon-Fri, 9:00am -6:00pm EST)

Fixed:
This plan includes five (5) virtual visits, after visit summary, access to your secure medical information and it is available worldwide. It does not expire.The cost, with a discount of 15% is of $250, Weekday (Mon-Fri, 9:00am -6:00pm EST)

Personal Plan:
This plan includes twelve (12) virtual visits, after visit summary, access to your secure medical information, prescription refill and it is available worldwide.The cost, with a discount of 15% is of $600, Weekday (Mon-Fri, 9:00am -6:00pm EST)

Family Plan:
This plan includes 20 (twenty) virtual visits, after visit summary, access to your secure medical information, prescription refill and it is available worldwide.The cost, with a discount of 15% is of $1000, Weekday (Mon-Fri, 9:00am -6:00pm EST)
Your personal information is fully protected. Our platform is designed with the industry standard physical, technical and administrative security measures to protect the confidentiality and security of your personal information.
The physicians who are providing the consultations at SnapMED are Canadian licensed. Therefore, they are required to maintain confidentiality of patients’ personal health information as would be expected from a physician at a doctor’s office. Patients also have full control of their medical information and they can choose to share it as they see fit. Full details of our commitment to privacy can be viewed in our Privacy Policy.
Unfortunately, we cannot provide the option to select a specific doctor at this time. The main benefit of using SnapMED is the speed in connecting patients with doctors. Therefore, our appointment queue system is designed to select the next available doctor so patients are seen as quickly as possible.

- On your computer, open Chrome.
- Go to https://app.snapmed.ca.
- At the top right of the address bar, click on the 3 dots to display the menu.
- Click “Install SnapMED”.
- Follow the onscreen instructions to install the web app.
